Experience and expertise
Michelle joined nib foundation as Company Secretary in its foundation year and was a key supporter of the establishment of the charitable organisation during nib's demutualisation.
After an eight year commitment as the foundation's Company Secretary, in 2016 Michelle was appointed a Director of the nib foundation Board. She brings to this position considerable experience as a not for profit company director and more than 30 years of experience in financial positions and chartered accounting, including senior roles at Caltex.
In addition, having been with nib since 2003 as the company's Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Michelle is uniquely positioned to align the foundation's objectives with the health fund's broader business operations for the benefit of all stakeholders. Michelle highly values the very real community health and wellbeing outcomes achieved by the foundation's investments.
Michelle is an active member of the Hunter community, serving as a Director of the Hunter Valley Grammar School, a member of the Council of the University of Newcastle and a member of the advisory board to the Faculty of Business and Law at the University of Newcastle.Previously Michelle was also a director of Newcastle Port Corporation for six years until the sale of the Port of Newcastle by the NSW Government.
Michelle holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from the University of Technology Sydney, is a chartered accountant and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
