With the help of our community grant program, WEA Hunter Foundation is offering young, first-time mums in Raymond Terrace greater access to support services through a program that aims to develop confident parenting skills and a greater understanding about better health choices.
This new project will help to improve outcomes for young mums, their child and the community through WEA Hunter Foundation's 'The Village - Helping Young Mums' program. Students will have the opportunity to attend classes covering lessons about pregnancy, nutrition, budgets and parenting.
The course will also encourage long-term educational and vocational goals and pathways by involving mentors and specialists from the local community. They will take on a supportive role to help the students transition back into schooling or other study once they are ready to do so.
The first round of the program will be rolled out soon at WEA's Raymond Terrace campus. For more information visit www.weahunter.edu.au
