Making a big difference to the lives of those living with limb loss

This National Amputee Awareness Week (4-11 October), we’re joining our long term partner Limbs 4 Life to increase support and awareness of the estimated 2,500 children and young people living with a limb difference nationwide.

Being born with a limb difference or experiencing an amputation is life-changing and permanent, not only for the person directly affected but also for their loved ones.

The nib foundation funded Limbs 4 Kids program is the first of its kind in Australia, providing comprehensive information and resources for all those who care for children and young people living with a limb difference.

Since its launch as a national online service in May 2015, the program has assisted thousands of families. It facilitates connections between parents offering peer support as well as access to ‘on demand’ information and resources. Through targeted campaigns, Limbs 4 Kids also aims to increase knowledge about childhood limb difference amongst the wider community.

National Amputee Awareness Week is an opportunity for us all to play a part in building the confidence and resilience of those living with a limb loss. Show your support by wearing a red Limbs 4 Life ribbon this week. For more information visit
