Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service
Satellite tracking system to reduce response times for aero medical retrieval
The community-owned and operated Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service performs more than 1,400 aero medical retrieval missions each year. The free, 24-hour service covers regional and rural communities throughout Northern NSW.
A new satellite tracking system has been installed on each of the Service's three aircraft to provide faster response times and better health outcomes for patients. The system will enable the Ambulance Medical Response Unit to know exactly where each helicopter is at all times so deployment time is optimised.
