FirstChance Inc supports families of children and young adults with disabilities through intervention, education and support services designed specifically to meet client's needs.
To help Hunter teenagers with Asperger's or High Functioning Autism develop basic social skills that they often struggle with, the organisation designed an eight-week Drama Club.
Through drama-based activities, the youth will gain a better understanding of body language, volume control, communication and social exchange, which assists them to build relationships with others, improve their confidence and self-esteem.
The Drama Club also offers parents a structured support group with weekly topics and presenters designed to build their knowledge of Asperger's and high-functioning autism by providing strategies to promote the quality of life for their child, family and themselves.
