The Song Room provides enhanced learning opportunities for disadvantaged children through free arts programs that are proven to lift their academic performance, attendance and wellbeing.

Their school programs have helped thousands of students aged six to 13 who are faced with mental, social and emotional challenges. The programs assist them by increasing their wellbeing and capacity to fully participate in their school environment.

With the Hunter region experiencing a relatively high proportion of early school leavers compared to the rest of New South Wales (52.5% versus 43.5%), nib foundation saw an opportunity to support the implementation of their unique, targeted program, Tuned in for Life, locally.

The program features a 40-week drama and drumming in-school workshop for 90 children and their teachers at three local schools who share a focus on addressing the needs of severely disadvantaged children with emotional and behavioural disorders.
