For almost 30 years, Crohn's and Colitis
Australia (CCA) have been making life more liveable for more than 75,000
Australian men, women and children living with Crohn's disease and
ulcerative colitis, commonly known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
In 2013 more than 24,000 people were
recorded as living with IBD in New South Wales. CCA have recognised the
need for up to date information and education for these people in order
to gain a better understanding of the diagnosis and management of their
The Crohn's and Colitis Australia IBD Forums Program enables
patients, carers and families to feel better equipped to manage the
various challenges IBD presents through better education and the
development of peer-to-peer support networks.
nib foundation's grant will support
four NSW forums to be held at Westmead Children's Hospital, John Hunter
Hospital, Port Macquarie Hospital and Sydney Children's Hospital. The
program targets paediatric and adult IBD patients and features expert
speakers including gastroenterologists, surgeons, dieticians,
psychologists and IBD nurses.
