November 2013 - October 2014

For almost 30 years, Crohn's and Colitis Australia (CCA) have been making life more liveable for more than 75,000 Australian men, women and children living with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, commonly known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

In 2013 more than 24,000 people were recorded as living with IBD in New South Wales. CCA have recognised the need for up to date information and education for these people in order to gain a better understanding of the diagnosis and management of their condition.

The Crohn's and Colitis Australia IBD Forums Program enables patients, carers and families to feel better equipped to manage the various challenges IBD presents through better education and the development of peer-to-peer support networks.

nib foundation's grant will support four NSW forums to be held at Westmead Children's Hospital, John Hunter Hospital, Port Macquarie Hospital and Sydney Children's Hospital. The program targets paediatric and adult IBD patients and features expert speakers including gastroenterologists, surgeons, dieticians, psychologists and IBD nurses.
