January 2013 - November 2014

Special Olympics Australia combines the transformative power of sport and a holistic approach to athlete well-being to create a welcoming environment where Australians with an intellectual disability are included, accepted and can enjoy the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle.

People with disabilities often face physical and social barriers when attempting to participate in sports, leading to isolation, and healthy lifestyle issues.
The successful Community Sports Link program breaks down these barriers to participation and brings sports activities, skills development and ongoing competition opportunities, as well as social activity to schools and community groups across Australia.
Funding from nib foundation since 2013 has supported the expansion of the Community Sports Link program in both metropolitan and regional Western Australia giving primary and high schoool students with a disability an opportunity to try a range of sports at a grass roots level in a friendly and welcoming environment.
We are proud to continue our funding support in 2014 to enable another 13 Community Sports Link programs to be held in the region.
