Mums are Amazing - pampering carers of deaf children
November 2013 - October 2014
Taralye helps to improve linguistic,
educational and social outcomes for deaf children across Victoria by
promoting early diagnosis and response to hearing loss.
Research indicates that diagnosis of
hearing impairment can disrupt the bonding process between hearing
parents and their young child with hearing loss. To help support the
wellbeing of these mothers and in turn improve the long term outcomes
for their children we are supporting Taralye's Mums are Amazing Pamper Nights.
The program will give more than 200
mums a chance to relax and build supportive relationships with one
another. It will also teach them techniques to effectively support and
advocate for their child, and minimise stress, providing them with
access to long-term peer networks.
