Learning Links provides children and young people who have difficulties learning with the skills, services and family support that enable them to reach their full potential.
With the rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme parents and individuals are required to make critical decisions on their funding needs for themselves. Learning Links has developed the successful 'Parents as Case Co-ordinators (PaCC) program which empowers parents of children with disabilities to become their own case co-ordinators.
Our funding will allow Learning Links to conduct their two-day 'Parents as Case Co-ordinators (PaCC) - Train the Trainer' workshops at no cost to 32 health professionals in Newcastle and Cessnock, providing them certification to facilitate the PaCC program. This initiative will build the capacity of local disability service organisations, and enable them to deliver this structured seven-week program to parents and carers in the Hunter region on an ongoing basis.
This training program covers a range of support areas including goal setting, conflict management, advocacy, writing individual family service plans and resource management.
